I don't like Punjabi and Hindi movies for "skirt-chasing" romance. Is Leanne just a muse? An object of man's desire? What happens to Don?

The book has been processed into numerical representations called vectors and stored in the retrieval system. When a question is asked, the system retrieves the passages most relevant to that question and gives them to the language model. The model then interprets them according to the constraints I have supplied. What happens on this website
You can read the whole book chapter by chapter in the Reading Room. Below each chapter you will find two things:ਵਾਧੂ ਸੁਲਾ | About this section
A short passage about what is happening in the chapter — a kind of meta-reading.ਘੁੰਡੀਆਂ | Connections
Connections between this chapter and other chapters, passages, or recurring concepts in the book. Much of this material is compiled by an LLM, as stated in the disclaimer. An LLM is not a person or a literary critic sitting somewhere reading the book. It is a language model: a machine trained to process patterns in language and generate language in response.I give it instructions about how I want the book to be read. These instructions are the rules and constraints. In this case, the Critical Reading Instructions are supplied by me and are available for anyone to read.
So, how does AI have access to the text?
It has access because I gave the text to the system for this purpose. There is no mystery here, and there is no hidden reader inside the machine. The technical version is that text is broken into smaller units, represented numerically, and stored in a form that allows relevant passages to be retrieved when needed. When you ask a question, the system looks for passages whose numerical representations are related to your question, retrieves them, and passes that material to the language model. The language model then generates an answer based on those passages and the instructions I have given it. So when the site produces About this section or Connections, it is not because the AI possesses a little private copy of the book and has independently decided what the book means. It is because I have constructed a reading system around the book and instructed the model how to operate within it. And now the second half of your question:
Have you given your AI rights?
No. There is no transfer of literary authorship or ownership to an AI here. I have given an AI system access to my text for a particular purpose: machine-assisted reading, translation, and the generation of interpretive annotations. The book remains my work. The AI does not become its author, publisher, owner, or literary rights-holder merely because I asked it to read the text.In fact, the slightly funny part of your question is that it is addressed right at the begining of the reading room. The disclaimer is at the entrance to the Reading Room. The Critical Reading Instructions are linked there. The pages themselves tell you which parts were produced with AI assistance. You don't have to trust the AI. You don't even have to like the experiment.
But before asking whether the author secretly gave an AI rights to the book, perhaps read the sign on the door.

Yadwinder,
ਫਿਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ “About this section” ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹੋ।
- End of response
It may look that way on the surface: a man desires a woman, and Leanne becomes central to his attention. But that is also where the comparison with a cheesy romance film stops being very useful.
The book does not actually ask the narrator to transcend desire. It does not redeem him by making him rise above his habits, his body, his material circumstances, or his immediate understanding of what he wants. Desire remains stubbornly physical and ordinary. The book even allows itself profanity, fantasy, skirt-chasing, holding her tightly, biting her collar-bone, and other crude or intimate forms through which human beings sometimes try to approach one another.
So Leanne is not necessarily a device through which the narrator becomes spiritually elevated. The possibility of a human relationship is explored through the very bonds and tools available to him — desire, fantasy, language, memory, loneliness, the body, and yes, sometimes rather ridiculous habits of pursuit.
That is also why I wouldn't simply correct the “skirt-chasing” reading. It is a perfectly possible first impression. But perhaps the more interesting question is what happens when a person cannot step outside his own habits and material conditions, yet still tries to make contact with another person. What does desire become when it cannot be purified into something nobler?
Leanne may be a muse, an object of desire, a person, a projection — or several of these at once. The book does not settle that question by granting the narrator some higher understanding of love. Don's presence complicates it further.
Perhaps, then, the question is not whether Leanne is just a muse or object of desire. Perhaps it is whether human relationships ever arrive without such projections, bodily impulses, fantasies, habits, and crude instruments of approach.
The book stays with that problem rather than rising above it.
Hunger and Desire are treated interchangeably. Such conceptual (and linguistic) switching of acute starvation/object of desire/meaning of words (language) exhibit author's personal crisis, which also seems to reflect in his cognitive struggle. He tries to explain that interchangeability (structural instability of logic and language) by writing about it: Eventually not only failing to write (the book), but also making a case for such connection. In that way, I would say he performs his case by failing in all categories. Think of it as an orchestrated fall, a fall nevertheless.
